Family & Victim Advocacy

When there are allegations of abuse or maltreatment, it can be an incredibly overwhelming and emotional time for a child and their caregivers. At our Child Advocacy Center, we understand how difficult this experience can be. That’s why our Family and Victim Advocates are here to guide, support, and empower families from the first point of contact through ongoing care and healing.

Our advocates walk alongside you throughout the process—ensuring you are informed, supported, and never alone.

  • Your journey with us often begins with a phone call. A trained advocate will reach out ahead of your scheduled appointment to explain the process, answer your questions, and help you prepare for your visit. We know this can be a confusing and emotional time, and we’re here to listen, provide clarity, and offer reassurance.

  • When you arrive, your assigned advocate will welcome you and guide you through the intake process. They'll explain what to expect and ensure both you and your child feel safe and supported.

During your child’s forensic interview or other services, your assigned advocate will be working with the multidisciplinary team (MDT)—which may include law enforcement, child protection, and medical or mental health professionals—to help coordinate care. While your advocate is working with the team, other advocates in the building will check in on you, offer support, and answer any questions you may have during this waiting period.

  • Once your child's interview or services are complete, your advocate will bring you to the table with members of the MDT. This outtake meeting gives you the opportunity to hear directly from the professionals involved, ask questions, and gather important information about the next steps in the process.

Your advocate will remain by your side during this conversation to help ensure you understand what is discussed, provide emotional support, and connect you with any resources you may need.

  • Our care doesn’t end when your visit does. Your advocate will continue to check in with you in the days and weeks that follow. Whether you need help finding counseling, understanding legal proceedings, applying for victim compensation, or just someone to talk to, we are here for you.

You Are Not Alone

Our Family and Victim Advocates are specially trained to support children and caregivers with compassion, professionalism, and respect. We are here to walk beside you—before, during, and after your visit—so you never have to face this process alone.
