Our Family and Victim Advocates ensure child abuse victims and their non-offending caregivers are supported in various ways. Kids Hub Family and Victim Advocates work directly with members of the Multidisciplinary Team to refer children and families for appropriate services, such as forensic medical exams and mental health services.
How does family and victim advocacy work?
In-take Prior to the child's forensic interview, the family and victim advocate will meet with the caregiver to gather family history as well as address any questions the caregiver might have. During this time, we go over what the appointment will look like and the caregiver will sign consent for the forensic interview. Out-take After the forensic interview concludes, the family and victim advocate, along with CPS and law enforcement will meet with the child's caregiver to discuss next steps as well as referrals for the child. Follow Ups After the family's visit, the family and victim advocates will follow up with the family periodically through phone calls, texts, etc. to ensure the case is moving along and all referrals are going well. |
