FAQs
-
No! The county can apply to be reimbursed by the State through funds specifically set aside for the Children’s Promise Act Tax Credit. This ensures that local governments do not lose revenue. It’s a win-win!

We recommend that you always check first with your local tax collector to determine the best way to apply your credit. The goal is to time your Children’s Promise Act donation so it aligns with your regular tax payments.
For example, if you normally pay 50% of your property taxes with your first installment, go ahead and make that payment as usual. Then, about 60 days before your final 50% is due, apply for the credit.
Once approved, you’ll:
Make your donation to Kids Hub.
Submit your donation documentation to the MS DOR.
When you receive your final approval letter confirming your credit, bring that document to your tax collector’s office so they can apply the credit to your remaining balance.
This approach helps you stay on your normal payment schedule while making the most of your available tax credit.

If your business pays the property taxes from its business account, then the property is still eligible for the Children’s Promise Act Tax Credit, even if the land itself is listed in your personal name.
The key factor is who pays the taxes, not whose name is on the property deed. As long as the tax payment is made from your business, the credit can be applied.
Last year, ten generous donors made a powerful choice.
By redirecting 50% of their property tax liability to Kids Hub, through the Children’s Promise Act, together, they contributed an incredible $156,000.
Thanks to their generosity, children and families who have experienced the unimaginable were able to access life-changing services.
Their impact gave more than money. It gave healing and hope for a brighter future.
